- On the 5th December 2008, ULS signed an exclusive license with the School of Pharmacy for the development and commercialisation of novel compounds for infectious disease.
- These plant derived natural products originate from the laboratories of Prof Simon Gibbons and Dr John Malkinson, both leading experts in the field of phytochemistry.
- The identified compounds already demonstrate good potency towards several organisms. ULS will be supporting the synthesis of additional molecules together with a full screening programme.
- With the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains, the need for novel antibacterials continues to increase and is an area of active research.
